Phobia Project
A. phobia: noun. an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.
B. Example Phobias:
1. Vehophobia- the fear of driving
2. Demonophobia- the fear of demons
3. Enochlophobia- the fear of crowds
4. Insectophobia- the fear of insects
5. Algophobia- the fear of pain
C. Brainstorming:
vehophobia:
- I have an extreme fear of driving, therefore I will be the model
- Have mom drive me in her large car to burger stadium
- Bring new tripod and set it up from a side angle in the passengers seat while I sit in the front seat
- I'll probably end up crying just sitting in the driver's seat .. but bring eyedrops just in case; capture myself freaking out
demonophobia:
- get sister to be model
- make her makeup super dark and dramatic
- have her sit in my bed with a cross in hand and my ouija board in front of her
- create dark lighting; set tripod up in front of bed
algophobia:
- get another family member, probably mom
- get large knife with lots of shine
- have the knife present in the photo
- have model do a scared expression
D. For my demonic photo I could either select to do a vertical photo that showcases the models whole body covered in fear or I could play with point of view and maybe have a bird's eye p.o.v. on the situation.
Lighting is also going to be key in both the demonophobia and algophobia photo. If possible I would like to get the reflection of my models face onto the knife, but that may be pretty difficult.

Welcome Back
Best Photos of 2016:
Although I really had no opinions on the presidential debate, I believe that this photo of Hillary Clinton is one of the best of the year. I love how the photographer was able to catch a really nice action photo, with no blur, that beautifully reflects Hillary's excitement.

I find this photo to be incredible because of how it perfectly reflects who Bolt is. Bolt is an amazing runner, who always comes out victorious, and you can just feel his pride in being successful through this action shot.
There were many rough times in 2016 and this photo of a protestor can be found to be very powerful. The protestor, a young woman, seems to be acting very peaceful and respectable yet is still told to leave by military forces. It feels much like a modern day Martin Luther King Jr movement photo.
Prompts:
1. What was the best song of 2016?
I believe that the best song of 2016 was "Black Beatles" by Rae Sremmurd. The reason why I was drawn to choose this song was because of the major internet trend that went around called the Mannequin Challenge. I think the song itself was amazing but on top of that it encouraged everyone to join together in completing a fun challenge. Not everyone is drawn to rap songs such as this one but in 2016 it caused many people to become more accepting and interested in this type of music, which I really like.
2. What was the best movie of 2016?
For best movie of the year I choose the action military movie Hacksaw Ridge. I do not go to the movies often but I went to go see this one as a school assignment. I believe this movie really captured the intensity of war, and the power that a single individual can have on a whole community. It also shows how you do not have to be violent in order to help and achieve great things, which I really enjoyed.
3. What was the most important news story of 2016?
I believe that one of the most important news stories of 2016 was the Orlando Club shooting. This shooting took place in America which caused it to be one of the most tragic events of 2016 (for us Americans). As seen in the photo tragedy can bring lots of people to come together and unite. The fact that it was a gay club brought lots of attention to different movements in the gay community in trying to gain the most equal rights and respect of others.
4. Who was the most important person of 2016?
The most talked about person of 2016 was by far our new presidential elect Donald Trump. In 2016 it was all about whether a person hated him or loved him (there tended to be no in-between). Donald Trump often said some incredibly ridiculous and offensive things, which caused him to be in the news way more than Hillary was. Presidency is something that affects everyone in America, which I believe added to his importance.
5. What was the biggest sports event of 2016?
The biggest sports event that occurred this past year were the 2016 Rio Olympics. The olympics are a time in which all of the world comes together in celebrating competition between one another. I personally really enjoyed watching the gymnastics competitions, which is why I selected this particular photo.
Over the break:
1. Something Exciting:
This winter break my Aunt and Uncle had a baby! It was really exciting getting a new little cousin! Unfortunately I was not able to visit them this winter break but I got to see many photos of him, and their whole family celebrating Christmas together. Definitely something I will not forget.
2. 2017 Resolutions:
I normally give something up for the new year, however I could not think of something that I could really give up and stick to throughout the year. So for 2017 I made the resolution that I would learn how to play the piano by the end of the year. I've always wanted to learn how to play, so me and my sister decided to team up on this resolution to add extra motivation, and come together and purchase a piano together.
3. Looking Forward To:
Overall I'm really looking forward to making all new memories with my friends and family. I have plans already to attend some fun concerts and events with others that I'm super exited about! 2016 was a pretty bad year, for many people, so I'm looking forward to making 2017 and amazing year (really shouldn't take much effort considering how rough 2016 was).
